Can you increase the quality of an allready encoded Divx file?

Is it possible to increase the quality a DivX/Xvid Movie around 700MB (1CD) in size by re-encoding it but spreading it out over 2 Cds (1400MB) increasing the bitrate...?

Would there be a notisable difference in quality or would it be a waste of time?

    Thanks

one way to increase the quality of a video file is to use filters (deinterlace, smoth, clipping, ...) work better if the source file is uncompressed or compressed with a lossless codec (Huffyuv)

i think it would be a waste of time unless the file has artifacts and you want to remove them, or if you want to crop and/or resize the video.

      The quick answer is no.
Your can't increase quality that isn't there. Your could blur the source so it "appears" to look better but why bother. Increasing the bitrate will do just that....no more.

Goto "User CP" and "Edit Options" and you'll see on the bottom of page.

I realize that English is not your primary language, but you really could do better:
