i have a video clip that has 2 languages in it. i can hear english in the background and another language in the front talking over the english. i used virtual dub and extracted the audio to a wave file. i then loaded the wav file into audacity. i think some recordings have the vocals at the center of the audio. so i inverted the audio. this did get rid of the overwhelming foreign language but also got rid of alot of the english. does any body know of a way i can get rid of the one language and keep the english ? any help greatly appreciated.

thanx UncasMS for your answer
i installed morgan stream switcher and did as you said. i selected english as the language in WMP. unfortunately i still have the foreign language over the english. it's still the same. in Audacity i split the stereo into 2 tracks. when played both tracks have the foreign language. any other suggestion would be greatly appreciated. thanx in advance.Comment

are you saying that despite the installed morgan stream switcher you hear both audio streams at the same time??
this has never ever happened to me
i guess you should try a decent player now!
try zoomplayer or bsplayer or media player classic (this is not an old windows media player, but a lookalike with better features)Comment

I tried the 3 players you recommended and still the same thing. I think the problem is the man interpretting the english has his vocals inbedded within the english. Whenever someone speaks english you can hear the man interpretting and speaking in the foreground. When i open the audio in Audacity I split the audio into left and right channel. I then play the right channel by itself and I have the man speaking. I play the left channel by itself and the same thing. Don't know what else to try. I did like the zoom player. thanx. Guess I'm stuck unless you can think of something else. Thank you very much for your help.Comment

maybe savong the very channel you would like to keep using audacity might solve your problem?
try saving the channel to an mp3 file
now make a backup of your original avi, load it into virtualdubMOD
set VIDEO to *direct stream*
then go to STREAMS => *stream list*
klick the entry with your old audio stream and DISABLE it
next load your new mp3 via ADD
finally go to FILE => SAVE AS and save this new version with a different name
good luckComment
