I have tried it but switched back to v5.05. It is tooooo slow. Slowest gave me an output of 6 fps on a P4 3.0gig! Although, over at DivX they claim that standard 5.1.1 = slowest 5.0.5 as far as speed is concerned but I didn't stick around to mess with it. I wanted my speed back. As far as the newest Gordian Knot goes, hold off on that because it seems to have a memory leak in it while doing a compressibility check w/ VdubMod (but not during the actual encode). So I downgraded that as well. Hope this was helpfull.

      weird.

i just finished testing mine. did a compressibility test at with these options.

      512x368
      little noise
      Lanczos (Sharp)
      Field Deinterlace
      5% compressibility
      Birate 1531

encoded first pass and second pass at 22.5 fps.

this is way faster then 5.1

Did you follow the guides over at DivX on increasing speed or you just happened to get right from the start? Also, do you really notice such a big quality improvement that would make it worth losing 25-50 extra fps?

nah i didnt read any guides. as far as quality loss, i think 5.1.1 is a bit more crisp and clearer then 5.0.5.

For the codec settings i uncheck disable post prcessing, set automatic post processing to Full. Deringing and Deblocking to full.
Enabled Bi-Directional Encoding and GMC. I also had the divx profiles disabled, theres really no use for these.

                positive results

i have been doing my endoding with 5.1.1 and gknot. my fps is between 60-90, but will finish in the 60's. only problem here is with playback. i have dual monitors and i play a video on one monitor while playing a video game on the other. it used to work fine with 5.0.5, but now the video won't keep up with the sound.

                  frell,

Can you post some computer specs as well as setup for encodes. I am really curious to see 5.1.1 with some good speeds. From your fps it sounds like you a "trual" (not dual) CPU...please, shed some light.

Hmmmm....I have the same exact specs, except I got 6 fps when I tried encoding with it!!! Did you disable anything in there?

                        60-90 ? woah.
Using Gordian Knot w/ DivX 5.1.1 on my 1.4ghz AMD laptop I get around 4.2 fps and it takes AGES !!!

How do I speed it up?

Watching movies and encoding at over 60fps???

i highly doubt that. no offence but encoding takes about 90% of your processing power. Doesnt matter how fast your processor is.

Actually I think it's highly possible as long as long as 60 fps is there to begin with. I have the same exact specs, I get between 45-80 fps but never up to 90...and mostly I'm in the 55-60 range (but w/ 5.0.5 not 5.1.1) and watching a movie while encoding doesnt' seem to slow it down by more than a few fps.

when i switched to 5.1.1 my speeds jumped bigtime. and divxdude, i'm sorry but your knowledge of how computers work appears to seriously be lacking
