    Merging IFO's

I am trying to rip a double sided DVD and as it is obvious I rip the one side in a folder called Myfilm (Part 1) and another called Myfilm (Part 2).I have ripped Double sided DVD's in the past but this one has significant difference in lenght the one side from the other (SIDE A-80 Mins, SIDE B- 30 mins)
I am doing a 2 CD conversion using DVD2AVI and VDUB but now I don't want to fit the 80 mins in 700MB and the 30mins in another 700MB.
I know i can rename the part B Vobs and get them to the same folder so the DVD2AVI can convert them as a whole.
My problem is that I want pemanent subtitles in the film using VobSub and I have 2 .IFO files is there anyway I can merge the two *.IFO files to 1?
Probably there isn't but I am just asking...

I doubt it will be possible to do this.

As a test u might try adding the vobs from the second part to the first part * (just rename the vob files so that the numbers fit), open the ifo file in vobsub configuration and click 'I stripped my sources and crossed my fingers' button (I love that button).

I would like to know if this is acctually possible

*To fit all the vob files in one chain you can rip the vobs to 2 GB parts in smartripper.

If this does not work you could just calculate the correct bitrate for 110 minutes on 2 cd's.
Then convert seperatly and cut the first part at 700 MB and join the end of the first part with the second part.

Although I don't claim to be an expert in the field of DVD authoring (Yes, I understand that you're speaking of .AVIs on two CD-Rs, but bear with me), I'm fairly certain that if you have access to a DVD authoring program, you should be able to create your own all-encompassing .IFO.

      Do let me know if my supposition is correct ;>}

I just thought of something else which I think might also work.

You could just configure 2 instances of the vobsub filter in virtualdub/nandub but add an 80 minute offset to the second part.

instead of foolling around with ifo-editing

since you have a total of 110 min to encode to 2 x 695/700 mb why dont you do a calculation and convert the 80 min to some 1020 mb and the 30 min to 380mb?

thus you should have approx. balanced files, which i would join with virtualdub and then cut the 1400 mb into two halfes again?

using nandub would be the safest way to achieve files of precise size.

              Totally agree with Khp.
I have thought doing the movie in a two 1020MB-380mb file conversion like Uncas proposed but I was wondering if is possible to make that movie the way it is supposed to be (700-700MB).

khp I will try what u proposed and will let u know what happened

Setarip I guess u are right about what u said but where can I get the DVD-authoring program?

Thanx to all of u guys for the correspondence

                ???
since when is a 30 min part supposed to be done with 700mb?

                sorry, cant follow that logic

I'm sure you realize that there are only a few acceptable responses at this site:

                  1) Check the DVD Digest site

                  2) Purchase one from one of the many "etailers"

                  3) Search the 'net

                    To Uncas

I Do not mean to have the 80 min part 700MB and the 30 min part another 700MB
What I mean is that I want ripped them all together as 1 Project at DVD2AVI which is possible and then split them but I can't have subtitles if I do that.
This is form the starting post

I know i can rename the part B Vobs and get them to the same folder so the DVD2AVI can convert them as a whole.

I have a slightly different question:

I made my divx using Easydivx Software.
I've obtained as reesult 4 files:

                        - .avi file
                        - .idx file
                        - .ifo file
                        - .sub file

The AVi file has an exelent video and audio quality, but i cannot see the subtitles.
Is there anyway to insert the subtitles in the avi file?

You need to install the directvobsub filter.

                            Go read this guide

                              Already done it.
But that only allows me to see the subtitles in Media Player.
What i need is to know a way of converting those 3 files (idx, ifo, sub) into a sigle srt or sub (microdvd or suview) file. SO that i can burn it into the avi file with the Submux application.
                              Can anyone please help?
                              Thanks guys,
