Please help before I lose my mind...

Hello, as the subject suggests, I am going insane trying to figure out why the hell this is happening, I've spent 3 days on this and I cant figure it out, so im depending on YOU!!!

I ripped a DVD with DVD Decrypter, and now im trying to convert it to avi with the Xvid codec..Problem is no matter what codec or encoder I use (I've tried many) I get the same results...The vob files are mint, they play perfectly...so its not that. Anyway screenshot is below, its pretty self-explanitory...

    My attempts are:
Flask Mpeg, XMPEG, and that vob2avi one.
    With these codecs:
    Xvid, 3ivx and Divx

They all end up exactly the same way...

make sure it is NOT a playback problem:

install ffdshow and make sure ffdshow is the default filter for xvid + divx formats

then take a look at your file again in a decent player like wmp 6.4, zoomplayer or media player classic and report back

oddly enough, the problem was I was cancelling the encode to check the quality of the video (before i spent 3 hours doing it) and i kept getting that shadow, having my encoding program open while i run wmp, winamp, or Divx player to check the little snippet of encoded video caused that, the encoder wasnt doing anything either, just idle...
