    problems on re-encoding divx video

Currently i have a divx video file which is more than 700MB, so i want to reencode the file less than 700MB so i can burn to a cd.

the software i using is Dr. divx 1.04, coz easy to use.. but is complain error when it start to 1st pass encoding. it say something wwsy67.ddc , i try to search on the web but got nothing..

I try using gspot or virtual dub to check what's wrong. then i found out that i only can use gspot to open the file but not virtualdub. i screen capture from gspot (gspot.jpg)

i really dunno what's wrong.. when i use fourcc changer to check, it show some weird character,

    FourCC Description Code : vo
FourCC Used Codec : rg l

is it why it coz the problem..??

    anyone pls help...

maybe you could append a screenshot from FILE => FILE INFORMATION when loading your file into virtualdubMOD

hm.. not sure what u really want...

ok, i found something funny.. i open the file, then under streams --> stream list --> i select the ogg stream n demux it save the ogg stream. N i oso try to re-compress the audio ogg stream to mp3 format alone, it works... but if i do it togather with the video encoding, the audio stream seems to be lost. i only get the video stream from the file information.. even i used direct stream copy..
is it my steps did wrongly so my stream didnt process ..??
i will list out my steps, pls someone tell me if i did it wrong..
                1. i open the video file..
                2. stream list --> i choose direct stream copy.
                3. video --> full compression--> divx5.1.1 --> multipass, 1st pass n i put 900kpbs(so manage to fit in a single cd), performance standard, select write mv file.
                4. save as filename, select dun run the job
                5. video --> full compression--> divx5.1.1 --> multipass, ntt pass
n performance i put slow, select psychovisual enchancements.
                6. save as filename2, select dun the job
                7. press f4, start...

i did the above steps for others video it works.. but not this times.. is it got others setting for the ogg audio stream..??
                pls help ...

thanks UncasMS, i found an indirect way to solve my problem. i need to process my video and audio seperately, which the audio i re-encode to mp3 format, then use virtualdub mod to put them back togather. But i still not able to mux the ogg audio stream to the video if i want to keep back the original ogg audio stream. hopefully someone can tell me y.. ..
i very happy now.. take me more than 2-3 weeks to find the so called a solution..

why did you not try to cut off end-credits?

going from ogg => mp3 => ogg doesnt make much sense to me since you wanted to reduce your filesize - didnt you?

ok.. now i think i know what u mean.. coz the file is more then 800MB so if i cut off the end-credits also not enough fit in a cd. i need to re-encode to lower down the kpbs and the audio not much helping me for reducing the size.. do u got any better idea... i willing to listen.. thx..

                          in addition to that....

I would like to recommend that you burn your movie
to an 800 Megs CD recordable.

this ensures that you have a reliable dye
also at the brim of your CD recordable.

if your CD Brunner is not able to burn oversized CDs,
chances are, that a firmware update might help.
in case you are using the new version of nero 6
I recommend that you go to the homepage of
                          ahead.de and download the bugfixes
                          for burning oversized CDs.
