Joining Vob Files For Virtual Dob Mod

I would like to know how i can join vob files so that i can compress them with the huffy codec, and then compress them again into the DivX format, thanks.

why huffyuv and then again to divx?

use dvd2avi and avisynth to frameserve and directly convert vobs to divx.

Well huffy will compress the vob files and then if i compress them again into DivX format then i will get a 700mb film that will look better because the codec will have less work to do compressing it because it has been compressed so much already, is'nt that the case?

I don't want to sound dim or whatever but it's just that i noticed that when i played huffy back through the DivX player the size was smaller than when i played vob files through it. Make sense?

encoding material more than neccessary rather decreases quality since you'll loose additional details and/or sharpness

convert directly to divx/xvid!

Right, i was hoping you might agree, but well......just one question then, why do people encode in huffy for and then run it through virtual dub, i mean i have had great encodes with direct conversion, but just wondering though.

huffyuv is great for CAPTURING but nobody will use huffyuv when converting from vob

you should have spent some time reading decent guides - nobody joins vobs in order to convert them consecutively

UncasMS, you do if you want to run them/it through virtual dub mod directly. You have to seeing as though virtual dub mod won't link the segments together because i have tried.

You just use them if you use gordian knot don't you? I use gordian knot but just wondered what it would be like if i ran the whole vob together on it's own through virtual dub mod. Just an experiment that's all to see if i would get (yes i know it's absolutely stupid) better quality, but did'nt.So i just went back to gordian knot.

P.S don't ask me why i thought that.

How much faster is DVX compared to the newest release of gordian knot, and is it accurate when it is encoding, what i mean is basically do you get good encodes with it that's all.
