Opening VOB files in virtualdub?

I can't make a fake avi file with VFAPI as it will only (insists) open AViUtl Project Files. (This is on my W2K machine) and on my W98 machine it reports an error.
So is if possible to opening VOB files in virtualdub?
Anyhelp would be great.

use avisynth instead!

fastest and easiest way will be GORDIANKNOT to create an *.avs file
