    Problems splitting xvid files accurately

I have a 1GB xvid movie, from which I need to cut the first and last 60 seconds, then chop the remaining chunk into 3 parts.

The problem is that the chunks aren't all of an equal length. For example, one is 35 minutes 2 seconds, the next is 32 minutes 16 seconds, etc. So I decided to use VirtualdubMOD.

I've tried to use VirtualdubMOD to cut the avi, but it isn't accurate enough. For example, if I want to start at frame 665 and end at frame 45044, I will mark these frames as start and end... but the output will probably be frame 550 to frame 45100. It means that the output will have a few seconds of unwanted video at both the beginning and end. However, it is no good. I need a clean cut. I've tried to take this output and cut it again, but the same thing happens.

I have also tried the splitter software from boilsoft, which was no good.

Is there any solution to this? Please advise.

    thanks.

The reason why the splitting seems innacurate is because vdubmod only splits at the nearest keyframe... i use a program called "easy video splitter"... seems to do the job well enough

    good luck

Re-encode in virtualdub and put in keyframes where you need them, then split.
