MpegFlask encoding problem

Since Virtualdub doesn´t support MPEG2 files, I´m trying to convert my mpeg2 videos with FlaskMpeg, but it have been very hard.
Different of Vdub it can open the file but when I go to the control panel/Audio Player, the sound plays failed (descontinued).
I usually encode with DivX codec 4.12 or DivX fast-motion. using many settings the result is always the same: The converted video plays descontinued (video and sound) and longer than the original, a 20 min clip takes 52 min in its new format.

Does anybody have a clue?

I´ve just noticed that the same problem is occuring with MPEG1 FILES into FlaskMpeg.

p.s. Wincoder is not flexible for audio output format , it has just one setting : Layer II for both MPEG1 and MPEG2,

virtualdub and nandub can handle mepg2 files through: dvd2avi=> vfapi or avisynth => nandub

Try setting the audio in Flask to 44,100 rather than 48,000...

Aside to UncasMS - many of the posters here don't use/aren't aware of frameserving concepts. I'm quite certain that mhs meant to say that VDub will not DIRECTLY acept MPEG2 files - which, as you know, is correct ;>}

OK, Lets go directly to the point, my main target is to convert several VHS videos to MPEG4, I´m trying the method of capturing in MPEG1/2 with WinCoder and later encode them to DivX, wich I haven´t gotten yet.
Is there a better methodology to achieve my objective? if I´m on the right way, what is the procedure mentioned by UncasMS? Where can I find a tutorial?

To setarip : I tried set the audio in Flask to 44,100 but it failed again, the video and audio play descontinued and the clip get longer than the original one.

for more on frameserving via dvd2avi => avisynth check out this part of nickys or doom9

- i'd create an dvd2avi prject

-next load this *.d2v file into gordianknot (c.f. at doom9s), make use of the autocropfunction in the RESOLUTION tab, save that AVS (avisynthscript) [to be done on the bottom of the window that shows your movie]

- load this avs file into nandub/virtualdub

I went to Nickys guide but I couldn´t follow it because I couldn´t download Ligos mpeg2 filter and WinDVD audio filter, the links are broken, Do you know where can I get them?

it's a modified version of flask(6.0 preview), and much better...
I wonder why so few people know it, everybody's allways talking about flask, wich development has stopped months ago...

if you select the yuv2 option it's also bloody fast..

To Kabwla : XMpeg is interesting, but when I open the Mpeg2 in it there is no audio too.

You've piqued my curiosity by what you haven't said - Have you played the MPEG2 file, to be certain that the original sound is okay?

Yeah! I played the MPEG2 files with both WinCoder and Windows Media, video and sound was all right. I supposed that the problem could be with WinCoder, but the same weird thing is occuring with files generated from PowerVCR.

If any of your capture programs can capture in AVI format (if not, you can use VirtualDub's built-in capture program) you might have more success with the subsequent conversion to DivX-compressed .AVI.

I'd suggest that you capture at the highest resolution possible and with uncompressed PCM audio.

By the way, the word "descontinued" that you've used is not an exact English word. Would you be good enough to explain its meaning (breaking up, stopped, hesitating)?

*discontinue* is ENGLISH, thus discontinued with an *E* should have been understood.

which part of the (english spoken - i suppose) world are you living in that the greek prefix *DIS* is that unfamiliar?
