    Crashing & CPU 100%

    Hi all,
Yesterday, I set an avi file to encode and burn into a vcd. When I looked at it a few hours later, it had stopped at 33%. The timer was still counting, but nothing was happening. Tried it again, same result. Tried it with a different file I had previously encoded successfully. Same result. Oh, and I forgot to say - the CPU usage was 100% on task manager winxp.
Then I switched programs, first to Panasonic MPEG2/1 then WinMPG. These both just froze the moment I clicked encode. With WinMPG, an illegal operation error came up.
    What is wrong?!

another problem in tmpgenc i cannot change the settings eg. resolution, bitrate etc. therefore an avi file previously 150mb is turning out as 650mb! on the video tab, all of the settings are grayed out. why???

Click on the "Load" radiobutton - and then doubleclick on "Unlock.mcf"...

thankyou very much i dont know why they make it so complicated but finally its done. now ill try everything properly-hopefully no more problems. anyone else experiencing same problem just install aimone video converter then remove it - it probably fixes some codecs. bye 4 now

im sorry. is it me or my crappy computer? anyway, i encoded a file with tmpgenc successfully and guess what? no audio. the source file was set, i have all codecs (hopefully) and with other programs like ht mpeg encoder (trial), the sound is working. i like tmpgenc because of its good quality results and highly customizable settings. what have i done wrong?
ps. in virtualdub the audio is mpeg1audiopayload

fixed it! the problem was in tmpgenc the directshow multimedia file reader priority was too low. change this to priority 2 by going to envionmental settings > vfapi tab and right click directshow multimedia, higher priority until it is 2. done! thx very much 4 all ur help, just let me know if theres anything i can do!
                              bye
