Best TMPGEnc Settings For Encoding XVID Video?

when encoding an xvid video with TMPGEnc Plus what are the best settings for NTSC?

incase u need to know, the audio was mp3 but i uncompressed it to wav and im encoding the video only then authoring the m2v video with the uncompressed wav audio...

am i doing this right? and what settings are best for encoding xvid video with TMPGEnc? and if u guys know any guieds or tuts on how to do it plz post a link it would be a huge help!

If you are encoding for the purpose of authoring to DVD, use the "Project Wizard" template for DVD (NTSC). Go to "File" > "Project Wizard". This dialog box often opens automatically when you launch TMPGEnc.

2 pass VBR at the highest bitrate you can, and still fit it on the disk. Add Ghost, and Noise reduction filters, as well as Sharpen if it's a fuzzy source. Motion Search Precision Highest Quality (Very slow).
Do as little resizing as possible. That means if your source is a 352x240 avi, encode to half D1 at 352x480, not 720x480. This is a FULLY compliant dvd aspect ratio. Even many commercial dvd's are actually Half D1 encodes.
Then set it to run overnight, through the weekend, and halfway into next week.
Go get Mainconcept, and have the same (or better) quality output in about 3 hours.

Mainconcept is sooo much faster than Tmpgenc. I only use Tmpgenc for it's tools since I started using Mainconcept.

I hear that! Tmpgenc's tools are very nice to have, and it's also quite good at transcoding my huge raw .wav files into mp2, but no more encoding video

There are a lot of people who say it is.

tmpgenc does a "fair" job on VCD. It's not the best. It is horrible at SVCD, and "reasonable" at HalfD1 dvd.
But why would you want to wait double, or triple realtime to get a VCD at 1150kbps, when Mainconcept can do SVCD at 2250kbps (VBR) in roughly HALF realtime (depending on your system speed).
Mainconcept is better, faster (insert theme from 6 million dollar man here)
The best VCD output I have seen is from bbmpeg. (your mileage may vary).
The best SVCD is from Mainconcept.
The best DVD is from Canopus Procoder.

Now if you're going to get into KVCD or XSVCD (or almost any non-standard mpeg), then tmpgenc starts to shine, mostly because of it's templates, and the ability to customize.
If you want an mpeg that's going to play on yours, your aunt's, your grandma's and your cousin's dvd player, use Mainconcept.

hmm i was looking around for like 2 min before i had to leave and all i found was a plugin of mainconcept for some adobe program....

is this right or am i looking at the wrong thing lol??
