If the subtitles appear below the picture (in a black bar) and not across the picture itself, you can load the file into VirtualDub, select the "Null Transform" filter, crop the subtitle portion.
Then select the "Resize" filter, put a checkmark in "Expand frame and letterbox image" and ADD the same number of lines you earlier cropped, using Black as the choice of color.
Save the video with a new filename, using the same video codec (at the same settings) that was used to create the original.
Unfortunately, if the subtitles appear across the video image, you cannot cleanly remove them.

The subtitles is in the picture, so I guess, there nothing to do about it.
