Are you talking about the non-hacked version?

    Low motion is MSMPEG v2
fast motion is MSMPEG4 v3 (My fave!)

      I installed DivX 5.0 PRO......

And was very disapointed....The picture was utter garbage.. green, red, blue blocks, horrible.

i tried it with Flask 061, XMpeg 4.2a, and virtual Dub 1.49

      all gave same garbage output.

I usually use Smartripper or DVD decryptor -> Xmpeg -> Virtual Dub, using 4.12 codec @ 1500 - 1600 bps which give me great results

i wish i could have made a screenshot of what thepicture was like when i did the v5,0 encode, but when i tryed, the players Window was blank in the Image.

So looks like i'm sticking with 4.12 for the time being until 5 is fixed.

Also i didnt have any ofthe extra settings on in the divX 5 codec, just default settings....

Does nobody use M$MPEG4V2 (the original)?
DO I need to install it? Or is it in my computer already by default Windows installation? Where can I find it otherwise? (Saw a few clips using this codec and the quality is great)

usually is installed by default but low motion is MSMPEG4 v2

          kReVy --

u should be sticking to DIVX 3.11alpha for a low file size and a touch better quality!

I ripped a movie with divx5 and divx3.11 with the same quality (6000kbps, both 2-pass encoding) and i found out, that divx5 wastes more space with a worse quality.

            v5: 2.105.200 KB
            v3.11: 1.718.764 KB

            I think, before divx6 isn't out, I will always use divx3.11

            kind regards

DivX 3 is only a rip off of M$MPEG4 v3. so if you think about it, the guys that keep saying that DivX 3.11 looks better are only claiming that Microshit's codec's are better than open source codecs like Project Mayo. All I can say is that I've only had better results when using DivX 4 or 5. Both offer better quality, predictable file sizes, and are actually LEGAL. So keep on using Microshit's DivX 3.11; you're only making them look better.

HAHAHAHAHA! This is the first time I ever met a Micro$oft enthusiest! I though they didn't even exist. Listen, Micro$oft's WMV is nothing but a basic MPEG4 codec with player restrictions built in. If you love Microsoft so much, just keep on using DivX 3.11 or WMV. In the meanwhile, continue listening to 'Nsynq, using XP, and eating at McDonald's for the rest of your life. DivX 5 is the most advanced codec I have ever seen. I've done tests and comparted results, so I'm not just some ******* on the web trying to piss people off - I have proof to back me up.

I usually rip movie trailers from my favorite DVDs. The specs I use on them are usuallt a res of 640x whatever at a bitrate of 1500 in divx4. That worked out fine. But I've been trying out DivX 5.0 at the same bitrate which turned out pretty good. Then I reduced the bitrate down to 1000, and the picture looked just as good as DivX 4 at 1500! So DivX 5 does have an improved quality. Just try it out.

PS: If you think Micro$oft is so great, go check out http://windows-sucks.com and think about what they've got to say. (Not when kids are in the room, bunch of profanity.)

I have tried it out and doesn't work well for me in terms of quality and file size, I stick to DIVX 3.11alpha.

divx 5 is so advanced! that it doesnt work here lol.

they got a few things too fix before it can be called "the most advanced"

at the moment, its "the most Advanced.....if only this feature would work, oh and maybe audio in .MP4"

3.11 & 4.12 beat it for having the handy feature of actually working

AHHHHH well get ur facts right!

Why is the file size bigger than 3.11alpha? (fast motion comparison and yes I can make good vids using fast motion)

Why does it not playback properly on my system?

I will be happy to use it if someone actually helps me out but no on will.

                          Stick to the original

I did not realise this thread has become an argumentative one...

I personally prefer 3.11 not because I like M$ (To hell with their monopolistic policy), but because I like what I see on screen. Everyone has their own opinions indeed and it won't change their mind by telling them to.

p.s. Waiting for the update on 5.x so that it does not take over 3.11 contents playback anyway.

well said enchanter, I agree with you.

IT was not meant to be an arguementitave thread people, have some respect.

I like to see quality and compression and DIVX 3.11alpha has shown me this!

I prefere the codec that works for me, not for everyone.

Please have some respect and desincy.
