no sound strange...

okay i have this .avi file here, and i own a phillips dvp-642. every file i burned soo far worked flawlessly on the player besides this one file i burned it and i have a pictuer but not sound. can someone please help me get this file to work it will be greatly appriciated.

load the file in virtualdubMOD and take a look at:
=> file => file information

compare the audio data with files that run fine and you should find the difference in the audio codec

wma (audio codec for file 1) is hardly supported by hardware dvd player

ac3 however (dvd *standard* format) is

thus the only chance is converting the wma to mp3, which will be supported

id save it then convert, and then join the video and the new audio file.. but i got no clue on how

1)
in vdmod go to => streams => stream list => DEMUX

2)
leave vdmod open
(you'll need it later on again for adding the NEW audio file!)

3)
use belight/besweet to convert the wma stream to mp3

4)
in vdMOD DISABLE the old audio file in the stream list and then add the new mp3 file

5)
make sure VIDEO is set to DIRECT STREAM

6)
save your new file
=> file => save as

plus i dont get a wma i get a .wav file. also i cant get it to convert for some reason i keep getting a 0kb .log file it wont convert

well i did it this way, i get the .wav file went and got ffmpeggui03b
converted the .wav to .ac3 then opend virtual dub loaded the old file, went to stream list clicked on the old audio icon to disable it then added the new .ac3 sound hit okay and went file save as. but i dont think and did direct stream copy and stuff. but the i opened the file again and looked in file information and the audio tag was still the same as before only the file size was bigger of the actually movie but like 150megs bigger.

converting a wma to AC3 is plain $&*§!

wma is similar to mp3 and you should rather choose mp3 as output format

well if i choose if i go into demux and then save it as lets say audio.mp3, and try to play t he mp3 afterwards nothin comes out

k i got it to work, i had to select the stupid video file in the stream list i had to get those lines going through it the file works now on my dvd player thx a lot
