    Heavy artifacts in encode

I'm new at this game, but hear me out. After configuring and encoding a vob file through Xvid, I get alot of arifacts. I guess arifacts isnt a really appopriate word for what I get... The screen starts out green for a few seconds and then the video will start looking somewhat normal. Things will stay onscreen and not move until something else moves. What information do u guys need to help me? I am using DVX 4043 and virtualdubmod, and besweet 192 cbr. Also is it possible to throw the -h switch into the command when besweet calls the lame dll? It works with the lame binary, and improves quality at no cost to filesize. I think lame supports another command that increases audio quailty at the cost of cpu speed too.

green distortions do not sound like artefacts (which do exist actually) to me

can you check your input/source material with a software dvd player like powerdvd and make sure there is no such thing as green distortion at the very same spot in your source material already?

        BreathOTheDying,

It's possible that the ripping was not properly done, causing weird artifacts on the source. Assuming you still have the DVD on hand, try re-ripping and remember to remove macrovision or any other protection mechanism.

Play the ripped VOB file and confirm whether the artifacts are still evident or not. Post your follow-ups here when you've done them.

        Cheers!
