DivX second pass HELP!!!

Hi guys, I've a question:
- some time ago I made a DivX conversion using DivX 2pass.
- The first pass made a log file, a bin file and an unplayable avi file.
- Now I deleted the unplayable avi, but I still have the .bin and .log files.
- I still have got also the DVD structure (the VOB files).
- If I want to redo the 2 pass encoding with DivX, can I do directly the second pass, or I have to redo also the first one???


Please HELP me!

Yes as long as you use the same encoding method, and the same resolution (important if you use the bin file).

Personally I would redo the first pass, if any chop/resize settings changed the bin file will most likely be invalid, the log file won't be completely invalid, but it won't be perfect either, so filesize prediction might be slightly off.

But why is it so bad to redo the first pass, start the encoding before you go to bed and it will be done when you get up in the morning.

Well, I followed your advice: I did the first pass before going to bed and the next morning the job was complete.

I have only a problem:
- I use Flask Mpeg 6 and also if set the "Shut down computer when finished the job" option, my computer doesn't do this.
With the previous version this option worked!!!
- Now when I close Flask Mpeg 6 it says: "this program did an invalid operation....".
What could be the because???

This is a know issue with flask0.6, no way around this sorry.

the best 'workaround' is NOT TO USE FLASK

i'd rather suggest NANDUB or gordianknot
they are reliable tools with terrific output quality

-Has they got an option like the "Normalize" in audio, like Flask Mpeg?

To start with, nandub isn't the easiest tool to use. Coupling it witk GK makes it a tad easier to use, in that GK allows you to crop and resize and do a few other things before sending it to nandub for encoding. Nandub has one of the best video output quality unmatched by Flask. However, the options are much more varied than Flask and also more tweakable. This makes the tool more powerful than Flask.

Lastly, these tools only deal with video encoding as far as I know, though nandub does offer MP3 muxing with the video (You need to process this audio file elsewhere).

If you setup and start everything from inside GordianKnot, it will happily encode the audio and video seperatly, and mux it in the end, all in one fully automated process. The only thing missing is automated cutting, but I feel confident we will get this in the next version of GKnot. Ofcause this only works with divx3.11(nandub) and divx4.xx(virtualdub).
