          There are a lot of good guides. One of the guides I like (besides Doom and the guides of this forum) is for example:

          "http://www.kvcd.net/guides/sefy/index.htm"

          @techno

          I saw that you mentioned (but not used) Wavelab in your guides. Where do I get that and where is it good for?

            of course, nicky and oom9! great!

            @ Wilbert

            Wavelab is to downsample to 44100Hz from 48000Hz when audio is extracted from DVD (read my guide, it is there)

            You might be able to download wavelab I think or buy it, must be full version!

            Try gold wave or goldweave or something.

                  techno,

                  your guide is still full of mistakes!

                  - you mention cropping and resizing at the stage of using dvd2avi
                  => actually GK takes over cropping and resizing, thus this part is simply wrong

                  - since your guide aimes at beginners, you better add some screenshots of all important settings, be it dvd2avi or gk or nandub!

                  i miss the following:
                  - video settings for dvd2avi
                  - resolution tab in gk instead of the tab you took a screenshot off and which is entirely worthless for the way you transcode!
                  - nandub settings

                  - the bitrate part in GK is not needed at all, since you let nandub take control of this
                  this indicates you still havent understood the way gk or nandub work (differ)

                  - i would NOT dare saying that a 48khz audio stream sounds poor/like an asf (i agree, of course to the fact that some soundcards might have trouble with 48khz - but above all i downsample with wavelab because some people like to convert avi to vcd/svcd and an audio stream with 44.1khz might be less problematic)

                  -the way you handle bitrate calculating in NANDUB is confusing and not logical

                  either tell nandub to make an 699 mb file which should contain a (lets say) 128kbps mp3 => this way nandub will create an avi file which will NOT become 699mb but spare the mb-size that is needed for the audio stream

                  if on the other hand you create your audio beforehand, then why dont you instruct nandub to 'get data from audio source' and load the audiostream via audio tab?

                      I personally think that if you are still learning on how to rip and encode DVDs, you shouldn't actually attempt to make a guide. I myself have never contemplated such a move because I know I still have mistakes with my ideas and knowledge, and Nicky and Doom9 have amply covered the topic.

                      Do you know of this saying? Anyone who knows something about a topic can answer related questions. However, it takes someone with a full understanding and knowledge of the topic to be able to pass on that knowledge to others. I can't remember the exact words, but it goes something like that. Doom9 knows really a lot of things regarding digital video and I respect him for that.

                          yap, you did :

                          ..., we may need to resize (crop) the video. For this, we use DVD2avi. Download v1.76!!!!! ...

                          +++++++++

                          @suhoi

                          a simple search with any engine you prefer should have solved your problem!

                              @ uncasMS:

                              ahh - ok, what I meant was that we will need to resize/crop and we will do this later on (in the guide)

                              It was like one of these lists to do sort of thing.

                              Forgive my english.

                              Thank-you
