Like I keep saying, the guide is rough, skechty and it is not intended to be the best, never was.

If any one would like to volunteer to help corrections, u r most welcome.

Maybe you should rename it: help me construct a guide. A sketchy and erronous process for ripping and encoding DVDs shouldn't be called a guide in the first place. No offense intended.

We all learn, step by step. This is what I am doing, writing as I go along.

like i said before: i DID point out those facts in order to be of constructive help

on the other hand (as i told you) i 'couldnt let you get away' with those errors, since newbees might take each and every word for granted and if your read through the guide carefully you will find some quite contratictive points.

btw. even for a one cd rip i would consider some changes in nandubs settings.

take a look at my guide and go for ENCODING => NANDUB and confer my nandub screenshots (though the language is german, the screenshots should be straight and simple).
of course i WOULD NOT recommend a value of ~999 for minimum allowed biotrate for a ONE CD RIP, but the antishit settings should be used in order to almost guarantee an error-free avi-output!

every know and then i actually do one cd rips and all i change is the minimum allowed bitrate, so i guess i could advise you to at least give those settings a try!

one more thing:
make sure to stress that that guide is NOT for NTSC but PAL, since you would have to work on the DE-interlacing for ntsc part.

in fact a few pal titles even do require de-interlacing:
here a some i rember:
-hitchcock's psycho
-independence day (id4)
-braindead
-bad taste
-meet the feebles
-evil dead
+ a couple of music dvds

thus a small part on de-interlacing via avisynth or de-interlacing filters like 'telecide' (donald graft) or 'area based' (ghunnar thalin) might be a good idea!

I was experimenting with this DVD I was ripping, eventually found the perfect bitrate and quality was DVD!!! I was happy then I put the MP3 audio and video together using vd, I have now burned it on one CD.

I am happy!

@Eric: That's nearly how I encode, except I don't use GK.

Splitting the video: nandub has the option to move the slider to the "last keyframe in the first XXX MB" That would give you the ability to cut at an precise MB-position. Cutting after half the frames would not automaticly be cutting at half the filesize.

Pictures: The pictures in your guide are really big, but some are nearly useless. In the "audio"-pictures I can't really read anything allthoug some of them are nearly 100K. Maybe you should only use parts of the picture or use a better compressing-program.

a few points:

1. go through the spelling of your guide

2. like benderman has already pointed out, some of your screenshots can hardly be recognised

3. in the besweet part: have you ever tried to turn ON SURROUND in output mode for stereo and also activate dynamic compression?

well i'd rather make sure that the screenshots look exactly like what you advise your reader to use as settings!

4. crop the nandubs screenshots to a necessary minimum

Thanks for the replays it's helpfull. About that jumpng to last keyframe before xxx MB I just found out yesterday. I change the downloads, haven't had the time a lot to do in school and I hate it.
I make sure I change my screenshots so it's the same settings that I tell my readers to use. I take my screenshots and save them in paint (as jpegs ofcourse) then I write the width and height in the code. What should I use instead?
