Whats a good encoder

which encoder is better than flask? i use flask, but which encoder would give a better output. Would encoders like pannasonic be better or even high price encoders work like adobe or ulead?

Also when i am done encoding to avi the audio is off by 2 seconds. Is VIRTUAL DUB a good prog to fix this error or shoud i use something like sound forge..etc

For DVD-ripping most people seem to like GordianKnot, you can find guides on divx3 and divx4 at the official site http://gknot.doom9.org. And there is a divx5 guide at www.doom9.org.

I suggest that you use DivX 3.11 with GordianKnot and nandub. You'll get near DVD quality. You can read my guide to if you want. You can see the link further down on my info.

thats right. go 4 divx3 alonside Gknot (nandub).

i ripped a phantom menace (see attack of the clones) using divx3 with gknot and played it 2 my mate who could not recgonise it was not a dvd.
