ah - ok, sorry about that people. I did this once and it reduced the res with the same bitrate! I dunno how or why it happened. But I do apologise.

    We all learn.

Huh? You increased the resolution once and 'it reduced the res with the same bitrate!'?

no no no...I increased the res cause there was alot of macroblocks in a smaller res, when I increased the res, the bitrate was the same and the quality was much much much better, no blocks! I am surprised too. But it is understandable why when you are capturing, not DVD ripping!

PS - 4min of video = 11MB using fast motion and near DVD quality!! (music vid)

          Right...

Let's just wait for hacker_on_fire to give us feedback on his original problem.

              ok, i'm back finally.

I got rid of the macroblocks finally. How?

Well i reduced the res to 512*384 this helped get rid of them also it suited it cos the movie was 4:3.

So reducing the res helped alot (Uncas & Enchanter were right)

              Also i used sharp bicubic.

So thats that problem solved. Phew!

Also i started another film, and done the compressibility check which was a 78.4% (lowest i could get it). But the w-zoom was in red cos the resolution was enlarged. Would this cause problems. Also i could get the compress check at 75% and no red, by reducing the bit rate?

What would yo think is the best idea? Dont worry about enlarging or reduce the bit rate?

Ughhh 4/3 DVDs, I don't understand why they make those things anymore .

We are talking about 'The Sleepover Bandits' right ?

I just converted my copy (PAL R2), it was encoded at 16/9, and chopping the blackborders I got it down to 704*304.

If your copy has been chopped down to 4/3 you are only seeing half the picture .

no, no wrong film. It called the 'Bandits' with Bruce Willis and Billy Bob Thorton. Its region 1.

The thing was it was my mistake (the disk was misleading). I ripped the wrong side of the disk. And by the time i realised i didnt have it anymore. Oh well. Dont worry it wasnt the best film in the world.
