How to determine codec info?

Hi all. Sorry if this is the wrong place, but not sure where to get this info.

I have numerous files where I don't know the details of its encoding since I did them long ago. How can I find out details like video and audio bitrate that is was encoded at? Is there some program or that can tell me this info? Thank you.

I just turn on the feature in powerdvd or nero showtime to display information while I am playing
