what to with a 2,5 GB avi?

I recorded an avi file larger than 2 gigs. I can't edit or play it. Is there a way to split it into 2 useable pieces?
I know about the 2 gigs limit and that was the last file I recorded without automaic splitting.
    Thanks is advance!

Yes, I have, but it couldn't open the file. I was given an error message: "Invalid AVI file: LIST chunk <4 bytes".

What OS do you have? My guess is 98 or ME, right?

If you have it try to install XP or 2000 instead.

You are right, I have Win98Se installed.
I'm going to try to edit the file under XP soon.
I heard on some forums that only AVI2.0 supports file size larger than 2 gigs. Maybe that is why I can't open my avi file.

I'm not sure, but I suspect that it has the old avi format (I will check it at home). I have a BT878 Tv card and I capture with the Tv application called ATV which isn't a present stuff.

the reason for this is because ur file system is FAT32.

it usually, and should, capture upto 4GB per file.

Use something like AVI_IO to capture over several files or install Windows 2000 or XP and convert to NTFS Partition.

                Use these settings for QUALITY:

                320*240/352*288
                YU12/YV12
                CD quality audio PCM
                NO RECOMPRESSION
                30fps (regardless if u r in a PAL region)

The file size will be HUGE but use those suggestion and u will be fine.

Then convert to MPEG 2 (or whatever) and then to DIVX (if you wish)

                Quality u shall get
