    Still AC3 Problem !!!

I have a Divx movie which has a AC3 encoded sound. (understand it when i look File Information from Virtual Dub.) Neither I hear sound nor i can extract it. I download ac3-filters and register the filters. I also downloaded the VDub version from the following link:

I extract the VirtualDub_ac3.exe from the zip file (i have also tried nandub) and i use this executable to extract/encode the audio. I can extract it but when i tried to encode or play I still get

"ACM failed to suggest audio decompression format".

I extract the sound file with Virtual Dub AC3 version and Nandub and tried to convert to mpg/Wav using BeSweep/AC3toMP3. The programs can not recognize the ac3 extended file. (By the way, when i tried to load ac3 to nandub it recognizes it and give some information like "FmtTag:0x2000, SampFreq:48000, Channels:2, bitrate:192 kb/s" )

I'm now idle, any help would be appreciated,

I believe the AC3 codec is included in the NIMO or TSUNAMI codec packs, try those.

      Tsunami - Nimo

I downloaded "tsunami_filter_pack_3_8_9_mini.exe" file and execute it. I could not download Nimo, because when i try to download, it stops when it comes to last 2 bytes !!! (well, its really bytes, not KBytes or MBytes)So i couldnt execute it.

Do you know another version of Tsunami pack which i can download? Maybe the one i downloaded has just filters not the codecs.

      Take care.

        Tsunami @ Virtual Dub

I look at the Tsunami version on divx-digest and i realize it is the last and the true version which i alredy install !

It may help; when i try to play the INPUT file with VirtualDub it gives the following error:

"The requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format. Check that the sampling rate and channel count of the input match those of the requested format"

But when i try the OUTPUT (with Video mode set to Full Processing and the audio mode set to Direct Stream Copy and AVI audio) it plays without error and without sound !!!

in terms of basic files, 389 mini should be identical with the bigger version 393, but maybe you should try the latest version 393 nonetheless.

the full tsunami-filterpack can be found on my page:

At last i hear sound but ...

I downloaded Tsunami pack, uninstall everything and install just this codec@filter pack.

            I also fresh install "DivxPro5.02Gainbundle".

This time i tried to extract sound file with Nandub and name it as a .wav . I get sound with Windows Media Player !

but VirtualDub and NanDub still can not recognize this wav file.
(i attach the screen shot of File Information !!! this must be AC3 i think.)

I can not seek on this file with Media Player. By the way, i can not play it with Winamp and also the sound quality is bad.

Dou you have any suggestions what can i do with this file i end up with?

Backwards compatibility is poor. To find out which version of the divx codec your media was encoded in, post the "file information" in Virtualdub.

In the meantime, uninstall divx 5.02 bundle, and install the divx 3.11 alpha codec.

Well, i have sent the file information in the previous post. it says

                "Divx MPEG-4 3920 Low V3".

Do you think it is because of the video stream. I still believe, the problem is audio stream. But you are the guru and i will follow your direction, thx.

                    divx3, ms v1-3, divx4 and divx5 peacefully co-exist on my machines!

i installed tsunami first an then divx 5 pro

thus i would NOT say to have only one OR the other installed.

Uncas, great you got all codecs to work , I can't seem to get all three codecs to co-operate---on my system its "war of the codecs"

                        no offence meant, batman

all i was gonna say was: THEY CAN coexist

no guarantee of course and as always every system is different.

                        sure thing, de-installing wont harm.

                            Guess What

I uninstall Divx Pro 5.02 and install Divx 3.11 alpha. Now the File Info is:

                            Video Stream
                            "DivX MPEG-4 Low-Motion"

                            Audio Stream
                            Sampling rate: 48000Hz
                            Channels:2(Stereo)
                            Sample precision:0-bit
                            Compression:Unknown(tag 2000)
                            Preload skew:12000 samples (0.25s)
                            # of frames:165970
                            Min/avg/max/total frame size:12/1001/12000 (162251K)

I still have the problems. Play the video stream without sound. Cannot mux with the sound stream that i have extracted before (as you know, i extract the sound with NanDub, name it as a wav. i can play it with Media player but can not seek)
                            etc... !

your audio stream definitely is an AC3

                              try this:

                              and run the apropriate registry-file.
