Can DIVX be transfered back to DVD

Can you take a movie that is on your pc, that is in DIVX format and burn it to a dvd/cd to play in stand alone DVD players and if so can anyone lead me in the right direction?

It is possible but you will require a "dvd burner." Using a cd writer you may create vcd's/svcd's from cd'r's/cdrw's that may be playable on your dvd player if it is compatible with these formats.
