Playback slows down in full screen!

    Hi,

    this is driving me crazymad!

whenever i try to watch a movie clip. mpg/divx/xvid in full screen it slows down alot, its no longer smooth, and also the picture is all pixley, normally it used to blend the pixles together, but now it doesnt.

i dont know what is causing it!

this seems to occur on all media players, WMP, BSplayer, Vidomi etc...

    any ideas?

What are your system specifications? (While playing these files in full screen also check your cpu load to confirm if this is indeed the case). This problem is characteristic of older PC's who are unable to handle higher resoultion clips.

    Tips:

-reduce colour to 24 or 16 bit
-reduce resolution to 800x600 or 640x480
    -close background applications
-use less cpu intensive player such as GDIVX or BSPLAYER
-adjust "post processing" or "quality" options of the respective codecs to a lower value.

ive tried it at different colour depths, and at different res.

      i have a 950mhz,702mb ram,gf3 ti200,110gb hdd.

this problem only seems to have occured afterthe last few days.

i dont know if this has anything to do with anything, but some of my icons are strange colours.

also when i try running BSplayer, it says
"overlay failed", "display hardware is not capable of color space conversiosn. switching to RGB"

just checked the CPU load, very strange, running on normal screen its about 60% but then when i go into full screen its about 97-100% ! whats going on, i have a 950mhz pc for p00p's sake! this didnt happen before a few days ago.

Try going to the divx decoder properties, go to the quality settings, and switch the Yuv Extended mode and Overlay Extended mode settings.

Also, set hardware acceleration to the maximum value.

Reinstall video card drivers and DirectX.

I experienced the same problem in BSPLAYER, it was solved only when I changed the colour depth to 32 bit. It may work in your case.

Try another player, such as GDIVX or WMP 6.4

ok, well uninstalled all the codecs again, ... well i tried however.. 1 thing....

if you goto device manager > video codecs, divx 4 is listed there, but i uninstalled it, when i click remove it removes it but then when i refresh, its back again..maybe this is causing some problem?

i only have ffdshow installed at the moment, stil lget the same problem tho, one thing i didnt notice before is if you leave it in full screen long enough, it will make the picture go back to original size, but still in the full screen mode if you know what i mean, the background is all black, like i is in full screen if you have a wide screen video, but the picture goes from being full screen to the original size...

                    help!
