Hello. Very informative forum but unfortunately i'm still having problems. I got the xvid codec but when i play it in mediaplayer i get intermittant clear frames from the film which then break up and get covered in coloured blocks while the sound continues normally. and this repeats.
i tried the fourcc changing thing but now i just get a green background for the picture and still clear sound.
I got virtualdub and loaded it in and when i did a preview it played for a couple of secondds and then crashed, (giving me loads of diagnostic stuff that was useless to me).
None of this bodes well i would imagine.
If it makes any difference the movie was japanese/chinese or something 'cos you can make out jap/chinese subtitles on some of the frames before they become corrupted.
