    AVI freeze

    Hi all!

    The problem:

When starting to play an AVI movie, the computer freezes for a minute. After that the playing is correct.
This occurs Low-motion MPEG4 DivX AVI files. (FourCC: DIV3)

    OS: WinXP
    Codec: DiVX 5.0.2
Players: PowerDVD, MicroDVD, WinDVD, Windows Media Player

Have you any idea how can I solve this problem?

    What I have tried:
    - DivX 3.11a - not solved
    - DivX 4.12 - not solved

When FFDShow is installed and DivX3 is checked to handle with FFDShow, the problem is solved, but the movie is flickered very hard.

    Thanks, VeryByte

What version of WMP did you try? Try wmp 6.4

Also, you may want to install the divx anti-freeze filter.

It's on a clean WinXP install, so it used WMP 8.0.

      But, it is player independent.

I have tried DivX Anti-freeze, but not helped.

      Thanks for your ideas.

I think, there was some codec problem, but I can't discover what is it.

Is this a recent occurence? What software/hardware changes, if any, have you made to your system? Also. Try WMP 6.4
