Help, I lost the ability to watch movies via TV-out!

Sometime over the past few weeks, I suspect because of a driver/app upgrade, I lost the ability to play movies on my TV using the TV-out feature of my NVIDIA Ti-4200 video card.

In clone mode, the desktop and all apps including Zoom Player 2.x and Media Player 9.x appear as normal on the TV, but movies (all formats) now are not being displayed. The display area within the players (or in full screen mode) is blank: movies play as normal on the PC monitor.

Questions: Did NVIDIA’s latest drivers or Microsoft’s Media player 9.x, surreptitiously add in new “digital rights” software to prevent movies from being played through the TV-out feature? How can I fix this?

If possible you may want to downgrade the drivers.

However, prior to this you may want to search this forum for some potential solution to tv-out problems. Also, TVTOOL may be useful.

(if i understood your problem correctly, you get a black screen on the tv instead of movie right??)

well you only have to do this: When in CLONE mode you can choose the PC monitor or the TV screen to be primary or secondary. The primary screen displays the movie and you can choose wich one it should be. I think nvidia have made it like this because when displaying movies on two screens it flickers a little bit with graphic cards lower than a ti 4200 i think.

On my computer, when I transfer the display from the computer to the TV after I've opened the player I'm using (not the file I'm going to watch, but the player) I get a similar black screen. If I transfer the display to the TV and then open the player and then the movie, then it shows up just fine.
