No Sound, No Video, but does seem to work

I've downloaded two movies (that's a total of 4 avi files) and none of them seem to work properly. There's no sound, no video, but the timer seems to work. My friend told me to download Mpeg codec version 4, I did, and Tsunami Filter Pack, I did, and then try playing the movies on Divx v2.0 Alpha and Windows Media Player. On Divx, it doesn't even open anymore. Before getting the codecs it would show the timer moving, but nothing else. Now, it just doesn't even open. On WMP, there's no difference between what happened before (timer shows movie playing but no audio & visual). Can somebody help? *My other avi files are working fine.

Sounds like a fake, this thread explain what to look for, to check if it's fake.

Thanks for the help. I guess I have some bad luck, I just downloaded another '8 mile part 1 of 2' and that also turned out to be bogus. That's 5 straight bogus movies! Well, at least now I know what to look for, thanks for the help!

You should just stop downloading stuff.

Ripping your own movies is so much more fun.
