I recently downloaded 2 Xvid files i cant play. Ive downloaded Other Xvid files, and they work fine, So at first i thought this file was bad.
I tried to run DivFix on the bad files to see if it would do anything, and it says the file is not an avi. Then i decided to open up one of the bad files, and I compared it in a hex editor to one that works.
The files seem like the same type of file, except the working file has information in the very first part of the file, and the broken file does not.
It seems as though the busted file is missing header info or something. I tried to cut and paste the working files header into the broken one, and It of course did not work, but after doing that, DivFix returned a different error. It said it wrote beyond the end of the file (probably because the header info in there is from another file, and the file size or index size or whatever is wrong.)
I dont know a lot about AVI / DIVX / XVID file formats. Am I barking up the wrong tree? Is there any way to put proper header info into the file to make it play?
Thank You
Any Suggestions appreciated
