    XviD - DivX problems

Are there any known problems related to running both XviD and DivX codec on the same machine? (or is this a stupid Q?)

    Stupid question
But seriously, i have it running fine in windows xp, and im sure im not the only one. And anyway, the XviD mpeg-4 codec is just a modificaton to the original mpeg-4 codec. So it should work fine
Did you know you can SEARCH the forum? Fixes common problems too:

Also search on the whole Digital-Digest website:

I don't have a problem with the XviD and the DivX codecs installed under my systems. In fact, the XviD codec is behaving better than DivX 5.02 (with its renowned automatic take-over of any older DivX version contents).

I also have a problem with xvid and divx3 alpha codec. Movies tend to play blurry colors, like if they are made in 256 colors.
When I play movies encoded in divx 3 alpha and there is no xvid codec installed they play just fine. The same happens when No divx 3 alpha is intalled, just xvid codec, then xvid movies play very well.
I've had a similar problem before when I used divx 4.xx codec or higher to play divx 3 alpha encoded movies.
        Compatibility of both codecs sucs.
