RM to MPG or AVI?

Could anyone tell me how to convert real player movies to mpeg or avi please?

The only program I'm aware of is "Tinra" used in conjunction with an support program named "Stable"- and I'm told it doesn't do a very good job of converting Real files to .AVI format.

You can use Tinra to convert RM to AVI or MPEG. I tried converting a 31MB RM and the resulting AVI is 1.2GB, and the process took about 1/2 hr on a celeron466. Tinra is a command line tool and you can get it from "http://memberss.infomak.com/tinra/index.html", also get the GUI from "http://guiguy.wminds.com/downloads/tinragui/".

I have problems

When I try to convert a 35.8 mb .rm file I get a 3.8 gig file. What I read on the site said next use Virtual Dub to shrink it but when i open up VD (hehe) and try to open up the huge .avi file, it says it can't open the specified file. In tinra, when i choose the convert button i can get a long list of available codecs to choose one and I've tried alot of them including DivX Mpeg-4 Low Motion but nothing. What am i doing wrong?
