    XviD colour problem

I'm having a problem with XviD playback that doesn't seem to be covered by any of the other forums. I have the correct codecs installed (XviD and AC3) and the sound is fine, but the colour is negative (ie skin tones are blue and the sky is black) and the playback is too fast and out of synch with the sound.

Has anyone else had this problem? Another thread suggested that processor speed might affect the ac3 decoding, but that doesn't explain the colour problem.

Try changeing the FourC codes to divx.

    As explained in this thread

Talk about all other file container formats and video codecs in this forum, including Ogg, RMVB, MOV, ASF, WMV ...

That seems to do the trick. After changing the FourC code, is the XviD codec necessary? In other words, is it possible to change any XviD file to DivX, thereby negating the need for an XviD codec?

NO, changeing the fourc code to divx means that the divx codec is used for decoding.

In most cases it will work. But some XVID features, like multiple consecutive B-frames, are not compatible with the divx5 decoder.
