The file won't work in Vdub because AC3 is not supported.
Try a different player e.g. BSPlayer.

    A wild guess here

    The file is called dvl-dada.avi?

I run Win Xp with Nimo 4.33 and XviD-04102002-1 _ALPHA_ Release installed, and I have no problem playing the file.
Nimo 5.x didn't work on my system.

                In PowerDVD?

I suggest you use RegCleaner and remove all Nimo keys you can find http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/shtml/software.shtml

Then install XviD and AC3 codecs.
You might want to try this ac3filter http://sourceforge.net/projects/ac3filter
