Hello all,
What a great site this is, very informative and tons of useful files.
I am new to Digital Video, but have a decent background in computers/programming, so looking for advice from the experts.
I bought a Sony DRV-30 digital Camcorder after x-mas. The quality and ease of use is amazing. A few days later (yesterday) I bought a cheap fireward pci card for my XP box. Although the supplied driver disk puked on determining the OS, XP installed it fine all on it's own.
The card came with some free software (VideoWaveIII). It works flawlessly witht he camcorder (controls to play, etc work fine). It captures crystal clear (and very large) AVI's.
I tried to open one of the AVI's in virtual Dub, to convert it to DivX, and make them smaller, but I get an error "Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'dvsd' (unkown)"
If anyone has info on what might help me, or any other suggestions for capture programs that would work nicely with the Sony it would be greatly appreciated. Please reply, mail me, or ICQ @ 34378091.
Thanks to all, have a happy new year,
Uni
