weird audio problem...

when i play a divx/xvid lately, i have this weird thing going on...
on a movie of let's say 90 minutes, the last 30 minutes or so, the sound starts getting choppy
it's watchable (hearable), but it's just annoying...
it goes like, someone says for example;

'yeah i totally agree with that'
but at the and of that sentence u hear a small piece of sounds from some seconds earlier;

'yeah i totally agree with that' 'eah'

pretty ****ed up

i have the prob on every divx/xvid, old or new, ac3 or not ac3

any suggestions? :-/

Have you made any changes (hardware and/or software) "lately"?

Have you tried different players?

Could your system possibly be overheating?

Id tend to agree with the overheating idea. sounds to me like your working the hell out of your processor. try burning the avi and playing it on another computer. or shutting down your system for a little while. then start up the movie and go to the end, and see if it still has the same problem.

it's definitely not overheating
for example the lotr2 xvid,

i watched part1 (having that problem the last 20minutes or so), and immediately after that watched part2, which had the same problem the last 20minutes of it (so not the beginning)
which proves it's not overheating that causes this...

and yeah... there is one hardware change... i installed a sounblaster live player 5.1 digital a few weeks ago, but i doubt that's the problem... cant recall if it had that before that too or not :-S

Are you playing the videos from your hard drive or from a CD or DVD player?

Based on your last reply, coupled with your certainty that the system's not overheating, I'd suggest that despite your opinion:

there's a very good chance that the problem IS related to your soundcard - either physically or related to any software setup for it...

i'll try installing some different drivers and see if that makes a difference...

If you have an on-board sound chip, try using it instead (to isolate the problem). If it does play, then it is most certainly the Live! card that causes the problems. Reinstalling the driver is a sound idea, and if you don't game much, I recommend you use the kX Driver for Creative cards.

eh that's funny, i do have an onboard sound chip, but the reason i bought the creative was that that one was broke

In that case, try out the kX Driver for your Creative card. I have to say I like it far better than the official one (since I don't play games; the kX driver is optimised more for music and recording).
