    Can I sell my movies?

I have this wonderful movie, which I filmed on my camcorder while white water rafting down the Housatonic River on Digital 8 (it's not really a movie of white water rafting, but let's just say it is - totally original content). Back home, I captured this on my PC in AVI format with the Divx 5 codec. Done a little editing. I now see that white water rafting vids are selling like hot cakes on Ebay for $20 each. I want to sell my movie to a waiting public.

Now, I have a problem. I can't sell my Divx AVI movie for commercial gain without the proper license. I could convert to mpeg1 or 2 for VCD/DVD. Do I need a license to sell DVD format movies? Can I sell DVD home movies to Japan on Ebay?

Could I skip the ability to use a stand-alone player and convert to wmf or asf format so that Microsoft Media Player will play it, burn it on CD-R, sell the movie for a profit, without paying license to Microsoft? Or, should I just convert it to mpeg1 with a VBR?

You can sell virtually anything on EBay these days...speaking of, a man tried to sell his family, and before the owners found out and put a stop to it claiming that "no people/souls can be put on auction", he recieved a bid of 5,000,000$.
Did you know you can SEARCH the forum? Fixes common problems too:
