    Playback very dark

    I d/l a xvid video and when I try to watch it the video is very dark. I can barely tell what is going on. I tried removing the xvid codec and redownloading it but it didn't fix it. I also tried the ffdshow or whatever it is and it didn't help. Anyone have any ideas about what can fix it?

    In WMP 6.4 :

    File-->Properties-->Advanced-->XviD MPEG-4 Decoder-->Properties

    Here you can adjust the brightness

      I got the brightness fixed but now everything is all blocky like it isn't refreshing the screen. In the video there was a triangle spinning in place. It would leave blocks the sme colore of it when it was gone. Anyone know how to fix this? I don't belive it was like this when it was still all dark. Im not sure if I maybe uncheck an option or something.

        I had exactly the same problem and solved it
        I found the answer at one of the earlier questions
        I had problems finding the codec; the name of it is ffdshow - 20020617 or ffdshow alpha; i used the last one which solved my problem

        Many users have found that downloading the ffdshow filter will let them play XVID movies. Here's the link for it:

        Remember to keep your xvid and/or nimo codec pack installed just add the ffdshow filter on top...
