WMP 9 cannot play a divx movie...

I'm trying to play a movie with windows media player 9 but it can't.
WMP pops up, it loads the movie, I can see movie name on the bottom but no sound or video, and after a couple of seconds it closes by it self.
I have no problems running other divx movies or running that particular movie with the divx player but wmp just doesn't seem to work.
The movie settings are the following:
audio 1.27.20, 191kps, mpeg layer 3(though the first time I checked I'm sure it was lame)
    video 25fps, 152kps, 24bit, divxmpegv3
The movie is 778mb, I would also like to know if it's possible to reduce the size to 700 in order to put it on one cd.
    Thanks

Crop off the credits using Virtual/nandub.

As for your playback problem, have you considered using the good-old and stable WMP 6.4? (Run 'mplayer2.exe' in the Run command). In addition to that, ensure that you have installed the DivX codec into your system.

Divx codecs are installed(5.02 and 3.11)!
I've tried to load the movie in virtualdub and it gives me an error, it says that there is a vbr problem and tha vd would try to change vbr to cbr but this could lead to sync problems and if I want to avoid theme I should save the audio to un uncompressed wav file and then recompress it.
Maybe this is causing the problem with WMP9?!?
Anyway how do I do the operations above?

        It's not the problem.

VD simply does not like VBR sound stream. Nandub will gladly accept such stream though.

Have you already tried using the older and reliable WMP 6.4?

Based on your postings, I assume that this is a file you've downloaded, not one that you've created. As such, there's a good possibility you've downloaded a phony file.

Despite the information you've already posted, do the following:

              1) Load the .AVI file into VirtualDub or NanDub

              2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

              3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

Setarip, you are correct about the "phony" downloaded file....
This appens when I open VD:
Virtual dub has detected an improper vbr audio encoding in the source avi file and will rewrite the audio header with standard cbr values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 1654880 ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unaccettable, decompress the “entire” audio stream to an uncompressed wav file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder.(bitrate: 364.9 +- 46648.5kbps)
                File info:
                VIDEO

Can you tell me how to take a screenshot?

No, actually based on the information you've now posted, the file looks quite real. The message from VirtualDub is simply advising you that the audiostream is (as previously discussed) in Variable Bit Rate format, which the "standard" VirtualDub cannot properly process.

If, in fact, you do have the DivX v.3.11alpha codec installed (which would have also automatically installed the Radium MP3 audio codec), you should have no problem playing this video - unless the header is an elegantly prepared (but easy to do) fake ...

I thought that "phony" was another way of saying "adult"
It's very strange, if I load the movie in the alpha player it works but if I try to move it ahed to another scene it locks up
                    How do I take screenshots?
