Xvid and Windows Media Player 9

I know, you have heard that question several times, but who wanna explain me once for all, witch Xvid codec there are the most stabile and will work with WMP series 9, because all recent Xvid codecs i have downloaded wont work with WMP 9 at my homesystem but do i analyze them in VirtualDub or Nandub, so is there a picture and the stream works fine, but still no sound however.

What can i poor man do, HEEELP!!!!

Don't use WMP9, opt for wmp 6.4 or BSPLAYER instead.

I guess it all depends on what pc with what codecs/configuration you have. XviD's work fine with WMP9 on my system.

                Batman, Help!!!

                Batman,
You seems to be an expert but I'm a novice who is trying to learn how to play some of the movies that I "got". I'm using WMP 9 but some of the Xvid files will not play. The video is distorted (picture is delay) but audio sounds perfect. Every once a while the video catchs up (only for a second) and it looks perfectly clear. I've downloaded all kinds of codecs for xvid but nothing seems to work for me. Please give me some directions. Thanks for the help.

As I suggested earlier, try playing the xvid files in BSPLAYER, and if you have the NIMO CODEC PACK installed, uninstall it.

                    Batman,
I just installed bsplayer but the screen seems to freeze and color is still distorted. I'll uninstall nimo now, but will that solve the problems?
                    thanks

If you search this forum for "nimo codec pack" you'll see many problems. I would definately recommend you first uninstall the nimo cdoec pack.

                        Mediaplayer works fine with Xvid

You just have to install this Codec : Koepi's 04102002

                        Can be downloaded from:

By the way BSplayer didn't work untill after I installed this codec. So BS is what BS normally stands for.

Although your probably know this or should know this, no player be it WMP series, BSPLAYER, or ZOOMEPLAYER will work without the appropriate playback codecs installed.

NIMO codec pack is known to cause xvid playback problems. BSPLAYER can resolve many of the problems associated with xvid playback, provided you have the xvid or ffdshow codec installed.

I have played around with alot of different codecs and evene though I'm only a novice in this I've got good result with that codec.

I can also recomend recording in Windows movie maker. I got Independence Day down to 233MB. That is the full movie copied from VHS to the pc. Taken in mind that it was from VHS it was allmost DVD quality.

                            Hardware used:
                            AMD Athlon 1300Mhz,
                            ECS K7s5a w/lan PCB: 3.1
                            256Mb SDRam PC133
Terratec Tv value (don't use the SW that comes with it, use Moviemaker).

Yeah i have told you i got my Xvid going, but now i have encountered a new problem, now cant i playback my Divx files, the picture changes fast between two frames instantly in Bsplayer and in WMP and others it only shows the first frame and then freeze, but the sound continues to play.

First info i could provide is im driving the SLD Codec Pack 1.3, and in running Divx v. 5.02.

Someone with a golden advice what i can do to solve that problem???
