Were the rm files (or the vcd) playable on your computer?

Since the files were correctly playing on your pc, try:

          1. Switching cd-r(w) media.
          2. Double-checking www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers to see what other users had to say about your dvd player.
          3. Burning with VCDeasy.
