vobsub - .sub , .idx file

    I got a movie - its 2 cd.
    I got a rar archive w/ 6 files.
an .idx and a .sub for cd1
and an .idx and a .sub for cd2
all 4 files share similar filenames that correspond to the avi.

There is also an idx and sob called
    VTS_01_0

    I have the program vobsub.

anyhow I would like to learn how to play these subs w/ the movie using the bs player.
can anyone help me w/ a tutorial?
I would also like to learn how to extract a .srt file from the idx/sub.

    Thanks for reading
any suggestions, advice or links would be greatly appreciated

"anyhow I would like to learn how to play these subs w/ the movie using the bs player."

Load the sub in DirectVobSub.Make sure the sub and the movie have the same name and are in same dir.

"I would also like to learn how to extract a .srt file from the idx/sub."

Open sub in SubResync and output preferred subformat...

"do i have to go thru every word?"

Not all of them. You will have to "learn" the prog to recognize letters.
