video speeds up once in a while

whenever i playback a divx video, it plays perfectly for 2 to 3 minutes but once in a while the video speeds up for no reason at all. there are no sync problems with the audio, it just speeds up for a second and the audio skips ahead to catch up with it. it's not a cpu problem because i'm running a p4 1.8. i've tried all kinds of combinations of codecs and many different players..same result...any ideas?

In your post you mention "A DiVX Movie". Are you talking about one or more movies you have the problem with?

If it is one, check if the movie is a correct rip. You might load it in Virtualdub to see if there are screens that speed up so you can correct em

no..it's in all the movies..they're good rips and have been properly encoded, i've checked them on other computers and they run fine...it seems like a software issue

Maybe something is wrong with your codecs. Check what kinda codec the movie is needing and uninstall and redownload that one. It might help

i've tried that many times with many different codecs and combinations...nothing seems to work. does this happen with anyone else?

on my old computer (slower)..the speeding up happened on most players except for media player 6.4...now, with my new computer, it happens with them all...i don't understand why and it's really annoying when i'm watching movies...any other help would be great

I have the exact same problems, but only on the TV when using TV-out on my Geforce2 GTS.

The DivX movies play back fine when played on the monitor, it's only when I switch to TV-out mode.

I use WMP 9 to view the movies.

I just picked up the card this past weekend, so I'll do some more troubleshooting and post back any relevant findings.

Did u guys fixed ur problem ?

              hello,

I have this problem for a while now, and i wonder if anyone find a solution ?

I had a geforce2 and now i am trying with a geforce4 4200, I got a celeron 1.2 and a simple soundblaster pci. I am using a flat monitor has default monitor and i plug my tv to the TV-out and TVtool for switching (i dont use any dual view) But i have the problem even if i only use the monitor

anyway the i have not problem with mpg movies or Dvix movies.

I have the problem only with Xvid movies (avi).
If i install Reclock 99, the video doesnt speed up anymore, but instead i get little cut in the sound.

If i dont install any audio codec for that movies I dont get problem either.

So its really, I think, a problem beween Xvid codec (i trying Koepi and Nic) and the audio codec like lameACM or MPEG...) But i still not find a solution.

I try many filters, i try to install nimo pack,or Tsunami-Filter-pack, i try to install exactly only the codec i need (XviD-04102002-1.exe and a audio codec) i try with one filter at a time, Its Like I Try Every Thing But Not The Right One !!!! lol

Does anyone Know anything about it ?
              please help

now that you mention it... i see that all the movies which I am having this 'speed up' problem with are XViD encoded movies also.

sorry I don't have enough time to trouble shoot this problem.. it seems like you've tried everything.

let's hope someone can post a solution. i'll try reclock99 sometime this weekend and see if that helps..

                thanks for your post

                    i have a sb live

Awesome! Good for you man! So.. what was wrong with the soundblaster you were using? I'm using a Soundblaster Live card.

Did you change sound cards and then XViD movies started to work properly? What exactly did you change?

                    Thanks in advance.

Just look in the correct subforum XviD playback http://forum.digital-digest.com/foru...?s=&forumid=39
you'll find plenty of posts about this
In one of them I read that the problem (Xvid video and AC3 sound avis speeding up) was caused due to AC3 filter SPDIF output. What I know is that I configured AC3 filter to the speaker setup I actualy have and never had any problems with XviD playback.

                        ok ....

                        hi petieboy,

i actually have a motherboard with soundblaster on it. but i wasnt using it (i desactived it in the BIOS)

i was using a simple PCI 128 soundblaster (the cheaper one)

So i take out the pci 128, set the soundblaster on board up.
re-install the driver and that it !

so it could be 3 things.

or the drive of my soundcard wasnt good.

or my soundblaster had a malfonction

or i had a conflit beteween the device on the motherboard and the soundblaster on pci.

if i was u, u can try 2 things, or u have a motherboard like me and u can just try the same stuff, or u can just get a other soundcard from someone and test it.

i dont think i will have time to do more test, but keep in touch, i really want to help u to fix this issue

                        see ya
