No sound with AC3 encoded avi.

    Hi to everyone!

I'm trying to play an XVID & AC3 encoded divx avi file but I'm getting no sound just video.

GSpot gives me the message I have included as an attachment, the gist of which is the error message VFW_S_PARTIAL_RENDER. In the audio format box it says "codec misconfigured!" under "AC3 (0x2000)".

I have tried playing this with BSPlayer, Irfanview, AVIPreview & WMP8. Either it can't be opened or it plays with no sound.

    Can anyone help me here?

The screen capture that you've posted appears to suggest that you don't have an .AC3 codec/filter installed...

      Thanks for replying.

Can you or anyone else suggest a particular AC3 codec that I can download? Preferably just the codec individually, as I've had problems with codecs clashing recently and I've just uninstalled all my codec packs and re-installed just what GSpot tells me I need.

Also, will I need to uninstall the misconfigured codec first, and how (apart from add/remove programs or the start menu) do I do this?

      Thanks again!

You need this AC3Filter to play back AVI's with AC3 sound
Ones installed Go to properties in BSPlayer and configure it.

It plays fine with me, the only thing is is that i skip parts of the movie it takes a long time for the sound to come up again.

        AC3Filter
