Problem with playback

Hello all,

i have MS Windows XP Pro. When i play a movie (video - xvid & audio - ac3) in several players (Windows Media Player, MicroDVD Player, Mv2 Player.. ), the CPU usage reaches 100 %. The result is, that audio and video don't synchronize (video is slower than audio). Only when i play movie in virtualdub is synchronization ok. I tried various versions of xvid & ac3 codecs with same result. If i try this same at Windows 2000 Pro, everything is ok... ??
Could anyone know, how to solve this problem?

Try reinstalling video card. Could be an overlay issue.
Was it always like that?

I have video card ATI XPert 2000 Pro(Rage 128 Pro chip), and i have the latest drivers installed(version 6.13.3279). Other films, divx or mpegs are played correctly. AC3 filter shows only 5-7 % CPU usage. The problem is somewhere among video card, windows and xvid codec.

Solved...

I've found solution to problem: when i play xvid movies, CPU usage always reaches 100 %. If i play divx movies, everything is ok.

So, i try direct vobsub and add subtitles to xvid movie, then CPU usage reaches only 20-40% and synchronization of audio and video is ok.

Now i play xvid movies only with direct vobsub enabled and if i don't have subtitles for movie, i make subtitles file with only one row of subtitles.

This solution is sufficient for me, but if anybody knows, how to solve this problem generally, pls reply.
