    DivX v3

Bsplayer told me i needed divx 3 to playback a file. after installing this it still told me i needed it. i already tried uninstalling divx 5 but no joy. only codecs i have installed are the divx3 codec and the ffdshow codec. media player just tells me it encountered an error. any suggestions?

interesting, firstly virtualdub tells me that its had to reconstruct the index for the file, then it says its detected an improper vbr audio encoding in the source avi file. it said it would rewrite the audio header with standard cbr values during processing. i can get it 2 preview in virtualdub. file info wont tell u much i doubt... can i save this new processed avi using vitualdub seeing as tho it can preview it?

The file you have is incomplete. You have two options:

        1) Load the file in Nandub or Virtualdubmod and setting "video" and audio to "direct stream copy", re-save the file.

        2) Run the file through divfix (but be sure to make a backup just in case).
