Divx and ffdshow brightness adjustment not working...

I have this movie that is way too bright and barely watchable. i tried tinkering with teh ffdshow properties but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions on how to decrease the brightness?

The 2 black bars are a good solid black, but the movie black is brownish redish purpleish but way brighter than it should be.

The obvious question would of course be, are you sure you are using ffdshow for decoding ?. Check File->properties->advanced.

The other thing you might check is, if the 'picture processing' checkbox is checked.
If it isn't you will still be able to move th sliders but, they won't be enabled.

yeah, I did all you said before...

I figured it out! I had to restart the player, not just reload the file.
