    Computer freezing when playing AVIs

My computer tends to completly freeze about 20 minutes into any AVI i play with DivX (or any other program for that matter). Any suggestion on how to solve this?

      • Download the tsunami codec pack from the link in my signature.
      • Play the files in WMP classic.
      • turn off any unnecesary backgroung programs

Thnx 4 ur suggestions heres the info u wanted

The whole computer freezes meaning I have to restart it. I am using a Sony VIAO laptop with these specs:

          AMD 1100
          256Mb RAM
          64Kb Cache

Should easily be able to run any AVI file, can't figure out why it keep crashing. Have already got the Tsunami Filter Pack and tried closing everything else down, still don't work

              just as I sent mine!

Have you tried bsplayer or WMP 6.4 (at the run prompt type mplayer2.exe)

                Thnx 4 the quick response

I just tryed WMP 6.4 any still the comp still freezed up a little way into the AVI i tryed 2 play. I fear it may be a problem with the computer memory, but i aint sure how 2 fix it.

try rebuilding the index of the file in "divfix"

I don't think that it has a problem with memory because I had a couple of months ago 256mb and every thing played fine

DivFix won't do anything to help him at this moment if he says all of his files are doing this. It is a windows error of some sort. Some kind of corruption in some part of the system files
