every 5 or 6 mins the sound just stops, the video keeps playing, and i have to re-open the file, and restart it from where the sound stopped. its kind of annoying. just wondering if there is a codec i need.

I have not had that problem before but I have had sound and vid troubles in the past. I downloaded a program called bsplayer and using that for your movies seems to correct some issues. Download the 3ivx codec and the ac3 filter sound codec. Uninstall any divx codec or xvid any other codec then install these.
I have no problems at all with the ac3 filter, 3ivx and bs player.
